RDAP stands for Residential Drug Abuse Program, a criminal law abbreviation.
Intensive drug treatment program of about 500 hours run by the federal Bureau of Prisons, in which participants live in a separate housing unit for around nine months. Eligible inmates who complete it can earn up to one year off their sentence.
Example: Defense counsel asked the judge to recommend RDAP so her client could qualify for the sentence reduction.
Usage notes
Authorized by 18 U.S.C. § 3621(e). Inmates convicted of certain violent offenses are ineligible for the time reduction, though they may still take part. A judicial recommendation and a documented history of substance use help with admission. Pronounced "AR-dap".
