QLE stands for Qualifying life event, a human resources abbreviation.
Change in circumstances, such as marriage, divorce, birth or adoption, death of a family member, a move or loss of other coverage, that allows someone to change health benefits outside open enrollment.
Example: Getting married is a QLE, so I added my wife to my plan in March.
Usage notes
Employer plans typically allow 30 days after the event to make changes, and some events, such as losing Medicaid eligibility, allow 60. ACA marketplace special enrollment periods generally last 60 days. Proof of the event is usually required.
