PAYG stands for Pay as you go, a telecom abbreviation also used in transportation.
Prepaid mobile plan, especially in the UK and Ireland, in which customers buy credit or bundles in advance rather than receiving a monthly bill. It requires no contract or credit check.
Example: I got a PAYG SIM for my daughter so she can't run up a huge bill.
Usage notes
In the United States, the same model is usually called prepaid. PAYG users "top up" through apps, vouchers or shops, and unused credit may expire after a set period. The model dominates mobile markets in much of Africa, Asia and Latin America. PAYG is also used for utilities and cloud services billed by usage.
