MOTM stands for Man of the Match, a soccer (Association football) abbreviation.

Award for the best player in a single match, chosen by broadcasters, sponsors or fan votes. UEFA and FIFA officially call it Player of the Match (POTM), which also applies to women's games.

Example: The striker's two goals and an assist earned him MOTM.

Usage notes

Broadcasters often announce the winner shortly before full-time, which occasionally misfires when a late goal changes the story. Cricket and rugby also give a man (or player) of the match award.
