Highest US military decoration for valor, awarded for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of life, above and beyond the call of duty, in combat against an enemy. It is usually presented by the president.
Example: The president placed the MOH around the retired sergeant's neck in a White House ceremony.
The Navy's version was created in 1861 and the Army's in 1862; more than 3,500 have been awarded, many posthumously. It is often called the "Congressional Medal of Honor" because it is presented in the name of Congress, but the official name is simply Medal of Honor. Recipients receive a special pension and, by tradition, are saluted by all ranks.
2. Medication overuse headache
Medical · Neurology Abbreviations
Chronic headache occurring on 15 or more days a month in someone with a preexisting headache disorder, caused by regular overuse of acute headache treatments for more than three months. It commonly develops in people with migraine who take pain relievers very frequently.
Example: Daily headaches with combination analgesic use on 20 days a month: MOH, withdrawal and preventive therapy started.
ICHD-3 thresholds are use on 15 or more days a month for simple analgesics, or 10 or more days a month for triptans, opioids, ergots or combination analgesics. Treatment involves stopping or limiting the overused medicine and starting preventive therapy; symptoms often worsen briefly before improving. Formerly called rebound headache.
