Motherboard form factor measuring 244 by 244 mm (9.6 by 9.6 inches), shorter than full ATX and offering up to four expansion slots. It is popular for budget and compact desktop builds and fits most ATX cases.

Example: A mATX board gives enough slots for a graphics card and a capture card in a smaller case.

Usage notes

Also written uATX, µATX or Micro-ATX; introduced by Intel in 1997. Most office desktops from major PC brands use micro-ATX or proprietary variants of it. Because mounting holes are a subset of the ATX layout, a micro-ATX board can be installed in any standard ATX case. Boards usually have four RAM slots, unlike most Mini-ITX boards.
