IFAK stands for Individual first aid kit, a military term abbreviation.
Personal medical kit carried by every service member, containing items such as a tourniquet, hemostatic gauze, pressure bandage, chest seal and nasopharyngeal airway for treating life-threatening injuries.
Example: Check that your IFAK has a tourniquet you can reach with either hand.
Usage notes
Pronounced "EYE-fack." Standard practice is that rescuers use the casualty's own IFAK first, so everyone knows where it is mounted. Civilian versions are sold for police officers, hikers and "stop the bleed" programs.
