GRACE stands for Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events, a cardiology abbreviation.
International registry whose risk score estimates in-hospital and six-month mortality after acute coronary syndrome from age, heart rate, blood pressure, creatinine, Killip class, cardiac arrest, ST deviation and cardiac markers. A score above 140 identifies high-risk NSTE-ACS patients who benefit from early angiography.
Example: GRACE score 162: high risk, angiography within 24 hours.
Usage notes
The registry began enrolling patients across many countries in 1999, and GRACE 2.0 later refined the model. European guidelines use the score to time invasive treatment. It is more accurate than the TIMI score but requires a calculator or app. Written in capitals to distinguish it from the ordinary word.
