EULA stands for End-user license agreement, a contract abbreviation also used in technology.
License between a software publisher and the person installing or using the software, granting limited rights to use it rather than selling a copy. It typically restricts copying, reverse engineering and transfer, and disclaims warranties and limits liability.
Example: Clicking Accept on the EULA confirms that you may install the app on up to three devices.
Usage notes
Pronounced "YOO-la". Shrink-wrap licenses printed inside software boxes were upheld in ProCD v. Zeidenberg (7th Cir. 1996), and modern click-through EULAs are generally enforceable. Whether software is licensed or sold matters for the first-sale doctrine; in Vernor v. Autodesk (9th Cir. 2010), the license terms meant the user did not own the copy.
