CEST stands for Central European Summer Time, a time zone abbreviation.

Summer time of the Central European zone, UTC+2, in force from 01:00 UTC on the last Sunday in March to 01:00 UTC on the last Sunday in October. Berlin, Paris, Rome, Madrid and Stockholm use it in summer.

Example: The final whistle at 22:50 CEST capped a dramatic night in Munich.

Usage notes

EU clock changes happen at the same instant everywhere, 01:00 UTC, so Lisbon, Paris and Athens all switch together. German sources write MESZ (Mitteleuropaische Sommerzeit), and some English sources use CEDT. CEST has the same offset as Eastern European winter time and South African time.
