Cdre stands for Commodore, a british military rank abbreviation.
One-star officer rank in the Royal Navy and several other navies, NATO grade OF-6, above captain and below rear admiral. Commodores command task groups, flotillas and major shore establishments.

Usage notes
The insignia is a single broad gold stripe. The rank, long an appointment held temporarily by senior captains, became a substantive Royal Navy rank in the 1990s. The US Navy used commodore at times, most recently in the early 1980s, before replacing it with rear admiral (lower half).
