1. Carbamazepine

Antiseizure drug used for focal epilepsy, bipolar disorder and as first-line treatment for trigeminal neuralgia. Brand names include Tegretol and Carbatrol.

Example: CBZ 200 mg BID; HLA-B*15:02 negative; sodium and CBC in 2 weeks.

Patients of Asian ancestry are screened for HLA-B*15:02 because the variant strongly predicts Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a boxed warning. Carbamazepine induces its own metabolism, so levels fall over the first weeks, and it lowers levels of many other drugs, including oral contraceptives. It can also cause low sodium and, rarely, aplastic anemia.

2. Comic Book ZIP

Comic book archive file that is simply a ZIP archive of page images, such as JPEGs or PNGs, named in reading order. Comic reader apps open it like a book.

Example: I bundled the scanned pages into a CBZ so the comic reader app shows them in order.

Renaming a .cbz file to .zip reveals its images. The format was popularized around 2000 by the Windows comic viewer CDisplay. Because ZIP is open and universal, CBZ is generally preferred over CBR. Related variants include CB7 (7z) and CBT (TAR). Metadata such as series and issue number can be stored in an included ComicInfo.xml file.
