Most popular air-conditioned sleeper class on Indian Railways, with three tiers of berths in each bay plus two side berths. Bedding is provided on most trains.

Usage notes

3A coaches carry more passengers than 2A, keeping fares moderate. Middle berths fold down at night. A cheaper 3E (AC 3 Economy) class with slightly tighter berths exists on some trains.
