1. Bangtan Sonyeondan

Seven-member South Korean boy band that became the most commercially successful act in K-pop history, with multiple Billboard number ones and sold-out stadium tours. The name translates as "Bulletproof Boy Scouts".
Example: BTS fans, known as ARMY, trended worldwide within minutes of the comeback announcement.
Formed by Big Hit Entertainment (now HYBE) and debuted in 2013. In 2017 the group said BTS also stands for "Beyond the Scene". "Dynamite" (2020) made them the first all-South Korean act to top the Billboard Hot 100. Members paused group activities from 2022 to complete South Korea's mandatory military service. In film, BTS means behind the scenes.

Widely used in film and photography long before social media. Since the late 2010s, BTS is also the name of the South Korean pop group, whose English expansion became "Beyond the Scene" in 2017, so fan and music contexts usually mean the band. Acceptable in professional marketing.

Example: Engineers added a new BTS on the water tower to improve coverage in the valley.
Each generation renamed the equipment: NodeB in 3G UMTS, eNodeB in 4G LTE and gNodeB in 5G. In everyday speech these are called cell towers or masts, although one tower may host equipment from several operators. In pop culture, BTS is the South Korean boy band.
4. Bangkok Mass Transit System

Elevated rapid transit system in Bangkok, Thailand, known as the BTS Skytrain, running above major roads such as Sukhumvit and Silom. It opened in December 1999.
Example: Avoid the traffic and take the BTS from Siam to Asok.
The Skytrain transformed travel in central Bangkok, where road congestion is severe. It connects with the underground MRT at several stations. Rabbit cards are used for fares, and contactless bank cards have been introduced on some lines. The initials are shared with the K-pop group BTS, an unrelated meaning.
