2 Chron. stands for 2 Chronicles, a Bible book abbreviation.

Book of 36 chapters covering Solomon's Temple through the fall of Jerusalem and ending with King Cyrus of Persia's decree allowing the exiles to return. It is the last book of the Hebrew Bible in Jewish ordering.

Example: God's promise to "heal their land" in 2 Chron. 7:14 is often quoted at prayer breakfasts.

Usage notes

SBL writes 2 Chr, and short forms use the same. Because it closes the Jewish canon, Jesus' reference to martyrs "from Abel to Zechariah" is often read as spanning the whole Hebrew Bible. Writers should not confuse it with 2 Cor. (2 Corinthians).
