U.S.C.S. stands for United States Code Service, a legal citation abbreviation.
LexisNexis's annotated edition of the federal code, first published by Lawyers Cooperative Publishing as a companion to the Lawyers' Edition of Supreme Court reports. It adds case summaries, agency interpretations and research references to the statutory text.
Example: The U.S.C.S. annotations included several agency decisions the West edition omitted.
Usage notes
Like U.S.C.A., it is cited only when the official U.S.C. is unavailable, giving the publisher and year: "(LexisNexis 2023)". Researchers often check both annotated codes because each editorial team selects cases differently. Its section numbering matches the official code.
