SPDT stands for Single-pole, double-throw, an electronics & electrical abbreviation.

Switch or relay that connects one common terminal to either of two other terminals, choosing between two circuits. SPDT switches select inputs, reverse signals and serve as the "three-way" switches that control a light from two locations.

Example: An SPDT toggle selects between the battery and the external power input.

Usage notes

SPDT relays are also called changeover or form C relays. A center-off version, written SPDT center-off, adds a neutral position. Microswitches in appliances and arcade buttons are often SPDT.
