SDNY stands for United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, a court abbreviation.
Manhattan-based federal trial court covering Manhattan, the Bronx and six counties to the north, including Westchester and Dutchess, with a second courthouse in White Plains. Its location next to Wall Street makes it the leading federal forum for securities fraud, white-collar prosecutions and major commercial disputes.

Usage notes
Nicknamed the "Mother Court" because its predecessor held the first session of any federal court in November 1789, months before the Supreme Court first met.
