RUB stands for Russian ruble, a currency abbreviation.

Russia's currency, issued by the Bank of Russia and divided into 100 kopecks. Western sanctions after the 2022 invasion of Ukraine cut many Russian banks off from the SWIFT messaging system and froze much of the central bank's foreign reserves.

Example: The invoice was settled in RUB through a Russian bank.

Usage notes

The ruble is one of Europe's oldest currencies and in 1704 became the first decimal currency, divided into 100 kopecks under Peter the Great. Russia redenominated it in 1998, removing three zeros, and adopted the ₽ symbol in 2013.
