MWh stands for Megawatt-hour, an engineering unit abbreviation.
Wholesale electricity prices, power-plant output and grid-scale battery storage are measured in MWh, each a thousand kilowatt-hours. Power commonly trades at tens of dollars per MWh.
Example: The battery installation stores 400 MWh, enough to cover the city's evening peak for four hours.
Usage notes
A 100 MW battery that can discharge for four hours holds 400 MWh, so storage projects are often described in both units, as "100 MW/400 MWh". One MWh is roughly what an average US home uses in a month. Day-ahead power markets post prices in $/MWh or €/MWh.
