MicroLED stands for Micro light-emitting diode, a consumer electronics abbreviation.
Emerging display technology in which every subpixel is a microscopic inorganic LED that emits its own light, combining OLED-like perfect blacks with very high brightness and no burn-in. It is extremely expensive to manufacture.
Example: The hotel lobby's giant MicroLED wall is made of modular panels with no visible seams.
Usage notes
Samsung showed "The Wall", a modular MicroLED display, at CES 2018, and its 110-inch MicroLED TV sold for about 150,000 dollars in 2021. Mass production is hard because millions of tiny LEDs must be placed precisely. Apple reportedly worked for years on MicroLED for its watches before abandoning the project in 2024.
