Lung-RADS stands for Lung CT Screening Reporting and Data System, a medical imaging abbreviation.
ACR system for reporting low-dose CT lung cancer screening scans, sorting findings into categories from 0 (incomplete) through 4X (very suspicious), each with a management recommendation. Most screens fall into Lung-RADS 1 or 2 and return to routine annual screening.
Example: LDCT Lung-RADS 4A: 9 mm solid nodule; three-month follow-up CT.
Usage notes
Lung-RADS sets size thresholds for solid, part-solid and ground-glass nodules and accounts for growth between scans. Version 2022 added guidance for airway nodules and cystic lesions. An "S" modifier flags significant findings outside lung cancer, such as coronary calcification or an aortic aneurysm.
