HUD-1 stands for HUD-1 Settlement Statement, a real estate & mortgage abbreviation.

Standard settlement form used at US real estate closings until October 2015, itemizing every charge and credit for buyer and seller, such as loan fees, title charges, prorated taxes and payoffs.

Example: The 2009 HUD-1 shows we paid $4,300 in closing costs on our first house.

Usage notes

Replaced by the Closing Disclosure for most mortgages, but still used for reverse mortgages and some other transactions. Many title companies use a similar "ALTA settlement statement" for cash deals.
