GWh stands for Gigawatt-hour, an engineering unit abbreviation.
A million kilowatt-hours, used for battery factory output, large storage projects and the annual generation of individual power plants. A 1 GW nuclear reactor running most of the year produces about 8,000 GWh.
Example: The gigafactory has a planned annual output of 35 GWh of battery cells.
Usage notes
Battery "gigafactories" take their name from gigawatt-hours of yearly cell production. Pumped-hydro plants, the largest form of grid storage, can hold tens of GWh. Smaller countries publish electricity statistics in GWh, while large economies use TWh.
