FTHB stands for First-time homebuyer, a real estate & mortgage abbreviation.
Borrower eligible for programs aimed at people buying their first home, generally defined by HUD and many lenders as anyone who has not owned a principal residence in the past three years.
Example: Even though I owned a condo in 2015, I still count as an FTHB today.
Usage notes
The three-year rule means people who previously owned can qualify again. First-time buyers can also withdraw up to $10,000 from an IRA without the early-withdrawal additional tax.
