FFCRA stands for Families First Coronavirus Response Act, a US law abbreviation.
Pandemic law of March 2020 that required many employers with fewer than 500 employees to provide up to two weeks of emergency paid sick leave and expanded family leave related to COVID-19, financed through employer tax credits, and made COVID-19 testing free.
Example: Employees quarantined in 2020 were paid under FFCRA emergency sick leave.
Usage notes
Signed on March 18, 2020, it was the second of the major COVID-19 relief laws, preceding the CARES Act. The leave mandates expired at the end of 2020, though tax credits for voluntary leave were extended into 2021. It was the first time federal law required private employers to provide paid leave, if only temporarily.
