FCFS stands for First come, first served, a classified ad abbreviation.
States that an item, offer or service goes to whoever claims it first, with no holds or reservations. It appears in classified ads, free-stuff listings, event registrations and campground policies.
Example: Free firewood at the curb, FCFS, no holds; please take the whole pile if you can.
Usage notes
The rule is common for free items, limited offers and walk-up campsites. Sellers often add "no holds" to discourage people from reserving items they never collect. In computing, FCFS is the simplest process-scheduling method, handling tasks strictly in order of arrival.
