EOF stands for End of file, a programming abbreviation.
A condition, and in some languages a special value, signaling that no more data can be read from a file or input stream. In Unix terminals, pressing Ctrl+D sends EOF to end input; on Windows it is Ctrl+Z.
Example: The parser threw "unexpected EOF" because the JSON file was cut off mid-object.
Usage notes
In C, getchar() returns the constant EOF, usually -1, when input ends. Shell scripts often use EOF as the closing marker of a here document, which feeds several lines of text to a command. "Unexpected EOF" errors usually point to truncated data or a missing closing bracket or quote.
