Usage notes
TiVo and ReplayTV launched the first consumer DVRs in 1999, and "to TiVo" briefly became a verb. Cable and satellite companies built DVRs into their boxes, and streaming TV services now offer cloud DVR with large or unlimited storage. For CCTV, a DVR records analog cameras, while an NVR records network IP cameras.
