DLQI stands for Dermatology Life Quality Index, a dermatology abbreviation.

Ten-question patient questionnaire measuring how much a skin condition has affected daily life over the past week, including symptoms, embarrassment, work, relationships and treatment burden. Scores range from 0 to 30, with higher scores meaning greater impact.

Example: DLQI 18, very large effect on quality of life; qualifies for biologic therapy.

Usage notes

Developed by Andrew Finlay and Gul Khan at Cardiff University and published in 1994, it was one of the first dermatology-specific quality-of-life tools. A score above 10 indicates a very large effect. A children's version (CDLQI) is used for ages 4 to 16.
