DHO stands for Dribble handoff, a basketball abbreviation.

Action in which a player dribbles toward a teammate and hands the ball off while screening his defender, a guard-to-big or big-to-guard alternative to the pick-and-roll.

Example: The Warriors' offense flows through DHO actions at the top of the key.

Usage notes

Common in motion and Princeton-style offenses. Defenders can "deny" the handoff or switch, much as with screens. Coaches abbreviate it on whiteboards and in play-diagram software.
