CUET stands for Common University Entrance Test, a standardized test abbreviation.
Computer-based entrance exam introduced in 2022 by India's National Testing Agency for undergraduate admission to central universities such as Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and Banaras Hindu University, as well as many state and private universities. Students choose domain subjects plus language and general test sections.
Example: Delhi University now admits undergraduates on CUET scores instead of Class 12 board percentages.
Usage notes
CUET ended the era of extremely high board-exam cutoffs at Delhi University colleges. A postgraduate version, CUET-PG, is used for master's admissions. Critics point to technical glitches and scheduling problems, while supporters say it puts students from different boards on equal footing.
