CRH stands for China Railway High-speed, a rail and transit abbreviation.
Brand of high-speed train services in mainland China, operated by China State Railway Group on the world's largest high-speed rail network, which exceeds 45,000 kilometers. Newer trains are branded Fuxing.
Example: The CRH train from Beijing to Shanghai covers 1,300 kilometers in about four and a half hours.
Usage notes
China's high-speed network grew from almost nothing in 2008 to more kilometers than the rest of the world combined. Early CRH trains were built with technology licensed from Japanese and European makers, while the later Fuxing trains are Chinese-designed. A 2011 collision near Wenzhou killed 40 people and prompted a temporary slowdown.
