BYOB stands for Bring your own bottle, an everyday abbreviation.
Indicates on invitations and restaurant signs that guests should bring their own alcoholic drinks, either because the host is not supplying them or because the restaurant has no liquor license.
Example: The new Thai place is BYOB, so pick up a bottle of wine on the way.
Usage notes
The final B is also expanded as "booze" or "beer." BYOB restaurants may charge a corkage fee for opening wine. The shorter BYO ("bring your own") is common in Australia and New Zealand, where BYO restaurants are a long-established category. Workplaces borrowed the pattern for BYOD, "bring your own device."
