BRP stands for Bathroom privileges, a nursing abbreviation.
Activity order allowing a patient on otherwise restricted activity to get up and walk to the bathroom. It sits between strict bed rest and unrestricted activity, sparing the patient a bedpan while still limiting time out of bed.
Example: Activity: bed rest with BRP, assist x1 for fall risk.
Usage notes
Typically written "BR with BRP" or "BRP only". Fall-risk patients may need staff to accompany them, so the order is often paired with an assist level. A bedside commode may be substituted when the bathroom is too far or the patient is unsteady, which is charted separately as BSC.
