AMG stands for Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach, an automotive abbreviation.

Usage notes
AMG was founded in 1967 as an independent engineering firm that tuned Mercedes engines for racing. Daimler acquired a majority stake in 1999 and full ownership in 2005. AMG's "one man, one engine" philosophy means each of its hand-built engines carries the builder's signature. The town's name is spelled with the German sharp s, sometimes rendered Grossaspach in English.
