VSC stands for Virtual safety car, an other sports abbreviation.

Formula One procedure in which drivers must slow to a set delta time on every part of the track without a physical safety car, used for incidents that need marshals on track but not a full neutralization.

Example: A VSC for debris let several drivers take cheap pit stops.

Usage notes

Introduced in 2015 after Jules Bianchi's fatal crash under yellow flags at the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix. Drivers see a target time on their steering-wheel display. The race resumes as soon as the VSC ends.
