Vne stands for Never-exceed speed, an aviation abbreviation.
Maximum airspeed for a light aircraft, beyond which flutter or structural failure may occur, marked by a red radial line on the airspeed indicator. Exceeding Vne even briefly can damage or destroy the airframe.
Example: Keep the descent out of the yellow arc in turbulence and never get near Vne.
Usage notes
Airliners use maximum operating limits instead, VMO for speed and MMO for Mach number. The yellow arc below Vne is the caution range, to be used only in smooth air. For gliders and helicopters Vne often decreases with altitude, so it may be published as a table rather than a single figure.
