TSE stands for Tokyo Stock Exchange, a stock market & investing abbreviation.
Japan's largest stock exchange and one of the biggest in the world by market value, operated by Japan Exchange Group (JPX). Its benchmarks include the TOPIX and, more famous abroad, the Nikkei 225, which is calculated by the Nikkei newspaper group.
Example: Exporters led the TSE higher as the yen weakened against the dollar.
Usage notes
In 2022 the TSE reorganized its sections into Prime, Standard and Growth markets. Since 2023 it has pressed listed companies trading below book value to improve capital efficiency, a push credited with lifting Japanese stocks. TSE was also an old abbreviation for the Toronto Stock Exchange, now TSX.
