TEAE stands for Treatment-emergent adverse event, a medical research abbreviation.
Adverse event that begins, or worsens, after the first dose of study treatment, as opposed to conditions already present before treatment. TEAE tables are a standard part of safety reporting in clinical study reports and journal articles.
Example: Most common TEAEs were nausea (18%) and headache (12%), mostly grade 1.
Usage notes
Definitions often include events up to a set number of days after the last dose. Treatment-emergent status does not mean the drug caused the event; causality is assessed separately. Analyses compare TEAE rates between treatment and control arms.
