T-note stands for Treasury note, a bond & Fixed-Income abbreviation.
US government debt security with a maturity of 2, 3, 5, 7 or 10 years that pays a fixed coupon every six months. The 10-year Treasury note is the world's most closely watched benchmark interest rate.
Example: Mortgage rates track the 10-year T-note yield more closely than the Fed's policy rate.
Usage notes
Notes are sold at regular auctions and trade actively in the secondary market, and the Treasury also issues two-year floating rate notes. Comparing 2-year and 10-year note yields shows the slope of the yield curve; an inverted curve has preceded many US recessions.
