T-bond stands for Treasury bond, a bond & Fixed-Income abbreviation.
Long-term US government debt security, currently issued with maturities of 20 or 30 years and paying a fixed coupon every six months. T-bonds are highly sensitive to interest-rate changes because of their long duration.
Example: Pension funds buy 30-year T-bonds to match their long-dated obligations to retirees.
Usage notes
The Treasury suspended 30-year bond issuance from 2001 to 2006 and reintroduced the 20-year bond in 2020. In everyday usage, "Treasuries" covers bills, notes and bonds together, and the 30-year bond is nicknamed the "long bond."
