India's foreign intelligence agency, officially abbreviated R&AW, which collects intelligence abroad, conducts covert operations and advises the government on security threats, particularly concerning Pakistan and China.
Example: Former RAW officers said the agency had warned of the infiltration weeks earlier.
It was created in 1968 after intelligence failures in the wars of 1962 and 1965, and its first chief was R. N. Kao. It reports to the Prime Minister's Office through the Cabinet Secretariat. Domestic intelligence is handled by the separate Intelligence Bureau (IB).

Generic name for unprocessed image files from digital cameras and some phones, containing the sensor data before white balance, sharpening and compression are applied. They allow far more editing latitude than JPEGs.

RAW is not an acronym, though it is usually capitalized; each manufacturer has its own format, such as Canon's CR3, Nikon's NEF and Sony's ARW, while Adobe's DNG is an open alternative. Files typically hold 12 or 14 bits per color channel, against 8 bits in a JPEG, and are several times larger. Editing software must be updated to support each new camera.
