Usage notes

Pneumonia is a leading infectious cause of death in young children worldwide and a major cause of hospitalization in older adults. Clinicians classify it by setting (community, hospital, ventilator), cause (bacterial, viral, fungal, aspiration) and location (lobar or bronchopneumonia). Some notes use "PNA" while others write "pneumo," which can be confused with pneumothorax.
