Oy stands for Osakeyhtiö (limited company), a company type abbreviation.
Finnish private limited company form, the most common company type in Finland, with shareholders liable only up to their investment. The suffix follows the company name.
Example: Supercell Oy, the Helsinki-based developer of Clash of Clans, is a Finnish limited company.
Usage notes
Since 2019 a Finnish private limited company has no minimum share capital. Public limited companies use Oyj instead. The Swedish-language equivalent is Ab, so bilingual names such as "Oy Ab" are common. Companies register with the Finnish Patent and Registration Office.
