American nonprofit media organization that produces and distributes news and cultural programs, such as Morning Edition and All Things Considered, to hundreds of independent public radio stations.
Example: I heard the interview on NPR during my morning commute.
Incorporated in 1970 after the Public Broadcasting Act of 1967; All Things Considered premiered in May 1971. The organization officially rebranded simply as NPR in 2010. Its member stations relied partly on grants from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting until Congress rescinded that funding in 2025. Headquartered in Washington, DC.

Calculator notation for the number of ordered arrangements of r items chosen from n: nPr = n! / (n − r)!. Choosing a president, vice president and treasurer from 10 people gives 720 possibilities.
Example: Using nPr with n = 8 and r = 3, there are 336 ways to award gold, silver and bronze among 8 finalists.
Permutations count order and combinations do not, so nPr = nCr × r!. Scientific calculators have both keys side by side. A "combination lock" is mathematically a permutation lock, because the order of the numbers matters.

Nepal's currency, issued by Nepal Rastra Bank and divided into 100 paisa. It has been pegged to the Indian rupee at 1.6 Nepalese rupees per Indian rupee since 1993.
Example: The trekking permit costs NPR 3,000 for foreign visitors.
Because of the peg and the open border, Indian rupees circulate widely in Nepal, though Nepal has at times restricted high-value Indian notes. Locally the currency is written Rs or रू. In the US, NPR usually means National Public Radio.
