CategoriesWriting & Everyday

HTF stands for Hard to find, a classified ad abbreviation also used in business.

Describes a collectible, discontinued product or rare variant that seldom appears for sale, often to justify a higher price in listings.

Example: HTF 1990s Pyrex pattern, complete set of four bowls, no chips or cracks.

Usage notes

Collectors are often skeptical of HTF and "rare" claims and check completed sales to see how often an item really appears. A related hype term is VHTF, "very hard to find." The abbreviation is common on eBay, Etsy and collector groups on social media.
