Usage notes
Its green-benched chamber in the Palace of Westminster was rebuilt after being bombed in 1941. Proceedings are chaired by the Speaker, who gives up party affiliation. Canada also has a House of Commons as the lower chamber of its Parliament. The Commons Library publishes nonpartisan research briefings used widely by journalists.
