DKK stands for Danish krone, a currency abbreviation.

Denmark's currency, issued by Danmarks Nationalbank and divided into 100 ore. It is pegged to the euro through the ERM II mechanism at a central rate of 7.46038 kroner per euro.

Example: A smorrebrod lunch in Copenhagen costs about DKK 150.

Usage notes

Denmark negotiated an opt-out from the euro and voters rejected adoption in a 2000 referendum. The official band is ±2.25 percent, but the central bank keeps the krone far closer to the central rate. The krone also circulates in Greenland and the Faroe Islands, which has its own Faroese notes.
