Materials that can harm people, property or the environment during transport, such as flammable liquids, lithium batteries, gases, corrosives and toxic substances, which must be classified, packed, labeled and documented under special rules.

Example: The shipment of e-bike batteries was rejected because the DG declaration was missing.

Dangerous goods fall into nine hazard classes, each item having a four-digit UN number. Rules include the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations for air, the IMDG Code for sea and the ADR agreement for European road transport. US regulations use the term hazardous materials.

2. Dei gratia (by the grace of God) (D.G.)

Writing & Everyday · Latin Abbreviations

Forms part of the royal title inscribed on British and Commonwealth coins, asserting that the monarch reigns by divine authority. It sits in the coin legend after the sovereign's name, usually followed by REG or REX and F.D.

Example: Around the edge of a 2015 British penny runs ELIZABETH II D G REG F D, short for her Latin royal title.

The full legend means "Elizabeth II, by the grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith." Coins of Charles III use the same formula with REX in place of REG. The phrase dates back to medieval charters and seals across Christian Europe. In 1849 the British "Godless florin" omitted it, and public protest led to its restoration on the redesigned coin.
